Meet Our Pastor & First Lady
Rev. Roderick Thomas
A word from our Pastor:
When I answered the call to preach the word of God over 20 years ago, I would have never imagined that the little boy who grew up one street over, would have been called to pastor his loving church. In Isaiah 6:8, it says, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who
will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” So here we are, 11 years later, still standing upholding the blood stained banner of Jesus Christ. I am grateful to be able to serve and love the members here at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. I have always counted it as an honor. The bible tells us in Jeremiah 3:15, ‘And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” In accepting this role, I have done my best in trying to lead and feed God’s flock here at Mt. Pilgrim. We
have seen people come and go, but I am grateful, especially to those who are here today! As Pastor, I want you to know that I love each and every one of you from the depths of my heart. I will continue to serve, preach, and teach the unadulterated word of God.
Love,
Your Pastor,
Roderick B. Thomas

A word from our First Lady:
As I watch my husband, our pastor, fulfill his divine calling, my heart is truly touched,
because he is absolutely extraordinary in my eyes! He is extraordinary in my eyes, but I
realize he is still human with limited energy, time, and strength. That is why it is his
selfless spirit, and willingness to exert every bit of himself that touches me the most.
Thank you for your Sunday sermons, Wednesday night bible studies, the seeds that you plant, the disciples that you nurture, the encouraging words that you share, and the prayer that you lift up constantly on our behalf. You are truly God’s servant and worthy of double honor. May you remain encouraged and know that your loving dedication and service is greatly appreciated. I would also like to extend a warm thank you to my Mt. Pilgrim Church Family. The love and support that has been shown to me are not taken for granted. I appreciate every prayer, every warm smile, every reassuring hug, the daily spiritual texts that I receive, and the loving efforts shown by members to include me in various activities. It has not gone unnoticed. I am so thankful to be a part of such a loving congregation.
Sincerely,
Lady Nakeya Thomas
